Alright it’s been quite awhile since I’ve last blogged and I’m back! This might be a long post but I’ll catch you up on my fantabulous summer thus far! The end of school came and went for some reason something unhappy always happens in my life on the last day, weather it be a break up or a fight or friends graduating. In the last few weeks of school we had the all sports banquet. Normally people complain all through these because they are SO long. (Even I complained because I could have been studying for exams instead!) Now I’m really grateful I was able to go because recently I found out I may not be able to play sports again, thus no more sports banquet… But, we’ll come back to that one later.
After school got out I had some pool days with the girls but my next big adventure was Montreat youth conference! This year the theme was “Perfectly Imperfect” and everything about the week was PERFECT! Two days out of the week we teamed up with Asheville Youth Mission to serve in the surrounding communities of Black Mountain NC, where Montreat College lives. Working with AYM was probably one of the most rewarding experiences of my life! The people were amazing and the mission was inspiring. Check out what AYM is really about and how you can get involved at http://ashevilleyouthmission.org/
After I got back from Montreat I started noticing a lot of back pain. I thought I had probably just strained a muscle playing lacrosse or rough housing with my cousins so I went to the doctor to have it checked out. I got a lot worse news than I was expecting.. The X-rays in my back shows that I have a fracture in my L5 vertebrate. I still don’t know the severity of this injury because I have not gotten an MRI or spec scan so see if the fracture is active or inactive. (Active meaning my body is actively trying to heal the break inactive meaning it’s an old injury.) Either way there is going to be a long road to recovery. I’ll be in a back brace for at least 3 months if it’s an active fracture and that may mean no more lacrosse. It took some time for it to set it that I may never be in another game or that I may never be able to run up and tackle my cousin or dive off a diving board but I’m trying to stay as positive as possible.
“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13
In other words, God will never give you more than you can handle.
