Been Awhile..

Alright it’s been quite awhile since I’ve last blogged and I’m back! This might be a long post but I’ll catch you up on my fantabulous summer thus far! The end of school came and went for some reason something unhappy always happens in my life on the last day, weather it be a break up or a fight or friends graduating. In the last few weeks of school we had the all sports banquet. Normally people complain all through these because they are SO long. (Even I complained because I could have been studying for exams instead!) Now I’m really grateful I was able to go because recently I found out I may not be able to play sports again, thus no more sports banquet… But, we’ll come back to that one later.

Me and my little sissy, Sydney. Love that girl!

After school got out I had some pool days with the girls but my next big adventure was Montreat youth conference! This year the theme was “Perfectly Imperfect” and everything about the week was PERFECT! Two days out of the week we teamed up with Asheville Youth Mission to serve in the surrounding communities of Black Mountain NC, where Montreat College lives. Working with AYM was probably one of the most rewarding experiences of my life! The people were amazing and the mission was inspiring. Check out what AYM is really about and how you can get involved at http://ashevilleyouthmission.org/

Reunited with my awesome friend Drew at Montreat!

After I got back from Montreat I started noticing a lot of back pain. I thought I had probably just strained a muscle playing lacrosse or rough housing with my cousins so I went to the doctor to have it checked out. I got a lot worse news than I was expecting.. The X-rays in my back shows that I have a fracture in my L5 vertebrate. I still don’t know the severity of this injury because I have not gotten an MRI or spec scan so see if the fracture is active or inactive. (Active meaning my body is actively trying to heal the break inactive meaning it’s an old injury.) Either way there is going to be a long road to recovery. I’ll be in a back brace for at least 3 months if it’s an active fracture and that may mean no more lacrosse. It took some time for it to set it that I may never be in another game or that I may never be able to run up and tackle my cousin or dive off a diving board but I’m trying to stay as positive as possible.

Not my back but, the same thing..

“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13

In other words, God will never give you more than you can handle.

I cried.

I cried tonight. That’s right I cried. I cried while sitting first chair at an orchestra concert where everyone could see me. I realized tonight that an era and a period of my life has come to an end… No, I’m not graduating this year but things are changing drastically. The most influential teacher (yes I know I complain about her 24/7..) is leaving Eastside. Before I had her as an orchestra teacher I never wanted to go anywhere with music. Music was just an extra. It was just something fun to do on the side. She has inspired to thrive to go the furthest I can with violin. I can honestly say that I would probably have never wanted a career in music without her. God put’s people in people’s life for a reason and Gigi was there to direct me towards the music. On another sad note, one of my best friends is graduating and it hit me when she was called up to be recognized with the rest of the graduating seniors.. This girl although a bit crazy, has been one of the only constant friends I’ve had while at Eastside. No matter how things have happened she has never left my side and never failed to brighten my day. I’m proud to say that I’ve rocked out to country music with her, stalked hot guys, with her and gotten into all sorts of shenanigans with her throughout High School and I’m going to miss her so much! I love you so much KK. You’re one of my life long best friends!

Goodbye Gov!

I finally done with AP Government!!!! Ahhhh Yessss! The class itself was easy but with an inadequate teacher the exam proved to be a journey. I have no idea if I pulled out that three to get the college hours but regardless… I’M DONE! To celebrate this feat I thought I would share with you some of my favorite and most intelligible political views that got me through this class.

Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day to my amazing, awesome, and beautiful mother. You’re my best friend and my greatest inspiration in life. I hope to someday grow up and share the love that you and your friends share! You are the bravest and toughest person I know. Half the things you overcome I could never do, and you overcome everything with GRACE. You never get so angry you throw cups through windows… (that’s me) and you never scream obscenities (at least not around me..) I envy your creativity everyday. Anyone who can turn a ten dollar good will find into something you see in housekeeping magazines is truly amazing! Although I sometimes question your odd choice of television (documentaries on schizophrenia, Sister Wives, Little People Big World) I enjoy our our of tv we share together every night.. I love that we can act like two best friends together and text under the dinner table about people sitting around us and sit around downtown, people watching and can give each other a look that says: “What is she wearing?”. I love all the time we spend together and all the talks we have but, most of all I love you!

Polos?

Are polos in or out or does it even matter? Me and my friend Katherine had a long and deep discussion about the “has-been” wardrobe staple: the polo. You can wear a polo so many different ways so why should it go out of style? I think a lot of people hate polos because they had to wear them everyday as school as part of their uniform.. Luckily I never had a uniform in school so, I will continue to wear my RL polos till the end of time (I have every color in the rainbow) and you can call the fashion police if you have a problem with it!

Ad Astra Per Aspera

Ad Astra Per Aspera- (Latin phrase) Through hardships to the stars.

This phrase describes my life and what I want it to be. This phrase has been achieved by some of my biggest inspirations in my life such as my mom and blogger, Kelle Hampton.  I’m no eloquent speaker and I don’t write award winning essays. I may not even have anything worthwhile to say to the world but here I am making a blog. I hope maybe sometime down the road I can look back and say that something great came out of starting this and that I inspired people like Kelle, but for now I’m just gonna write about whatever I feel needs to be shared.Image
